Kota stone
Kota stone high polish
Full gloss on blue-grey Kota. Lobbies and feature floors.
What it is
A mirror face that keeps its depth under artificial light.
Taken through the whole grit sequence to a true mirror. Blue-grey Kota at high polish goes deep and wet-looking, close to a dark marble, and it holds that look under artificial light — which is why it ends up in lobbies, showrooms and front rooms.
It comes calibrated or non-calibrated. Calibrated is ground to an even thickness so the tiler lays to a constant bed depth and works faster; non-calibrated is cheaper stone and more labour. On anything above a few hundred square feet, calibrated is usually the cheaper answer once you count the laying.
Where it belongs
The jobs this one is for.

- Interior floors, lobbies and reception areas
- Feature walls and skirting to match a polished floor
- Interior only — a polished face is slippery wet
Worth knowing
High polish shows every defect in the slab, so it is sorted harder than any other finish. That sorting is part of what you are paying for.
