Kota stone
Semi polished Kota stone
Stopped short of full gloss. The everyday floor.
What it is
The floor most houses actually want.
Semi polished is Kota taken through the grit sequence but stopped before the mirror stage. The face is flat and clean, it reflects light without throwing it back at you, and it does not show every footprint and scuff the way a full polish does.
This is the specification most houses actually want. It is the cheapest polished Kota we run, it lays as easily as any tile, and when it dulls after ten or fifteen years it grinds and re-polishes in place rather than being ripped out.
Where it belongs
The jobs this one is for.

- Living rooms, bedrooms and passages
- Rented flats and builder floors, where cost per square foot decides
- Anywhere a mirror polish would be too slippery or too much upkeep
Worth knowing
We run it in first and second quality. First is the tighter sort — even tone, clean edges, fewest healed lines. Second quality is sound stone with more variation in it, and it costs less; on a large floor, in a rented flat, or under furniture it is often the sensible buy. Ask for a physical piece of the grade you are quoting either way — semi polish reads differently under daylight and under yellow light.
